A meeting of the IAU Working Group on Ap & Related Stars (ApWG) will take place during the XXXth IAU General Assembly (GA) in Vienna, on Thursday, August 30, from 8:30 to 12:00 (coffee break between 10:00 and 10:30). All interested GA participants are cordially invited to attend this meeting. The preliminary agenda is:

  • Report on the status of the ApWG (2016–2018)
  • Discussion about the future of the ApWG
  • Scientific presentations

If you wish to present a scientific contribution at the ApWG meeting, please send me (gmathys@eso.org) the title and the abstract, at the latest by June 30. As a rule, given the limited amount of time available, we shall probably be able to accommodate only one presentation per participant; the length of the presentations will be constrained by their number.

Please spread the information about this meeting among your colleagues who may be interested, so as to ensure broad participation.

More generally, I would like to invite you to review the membership list of the ApWG at https://www.iau.org/science/scientific_bodies/working_groups/105/members/, and to propose new members, if you know people who are interested to join. I suspect that there are a number of young colleagues who should be added, as the list has remained almost static for a long time. Note that membership in the IAU is not required to join the WG: the WG can include (associate) members who are not members of the IAU.

I am looking forward to your replies, and I hope to see many of you in Vienna in August.

Gautier Mathys
Chair, IAU WG on Ap & Related Stars
